About Fishing The Mosquito Lagoon
Mon Oct 06, 2008
Hello,
My name is Richard Bradley and I grew up on Merritt
Island, Florida's North Banana River Drive.
My father started me fishing when I was a child in his homemade
jon boat for freshwater game and panfish and quickly progressed
me to the saltwater canals off the Banana,
Indian River and Mosquito Lagoons.
I believe I became addicted to fishing while plugging for snook
in the backwaters near mangroves and docks and more so later when
dad took me offshore for cobia, dolphin and other sportsfish.
I remember my father taking me cobia fishing and leaving the gaff
home. Of course we hooked up with several large cobia and landed
none of the powerful fish without a way to boat them. The
cobia were plentiful back in the 1960's and 1970's and we never
had to go looking too far to find them, now things have changed
but we still land alot of cobia each year.
I've dedicated my life to showing people what I've enjoyed for
decades. I work with a fishing
guide service called Lagooner and I guide over 300 trips annually.
