Redfish Bait
Fri Nov 21, 2008
The very best redfish bait imitates what is flourishing in their
environment and is typically on their menu. Crabs,
shrimp, pilchards, mullet
and even clams can be a dominant menu item depending
on the time of year and what is available to them at the time.
I've found that when you are sightfishing for redfish a properly
presented crab or imitation crab is difficult for them to pass up.
Other times a weedless spoon can be convenient and readily accepted
or possibly any type of soft flavored plastics from exudes to bass
assassins. Live shrimp are often gobbled up as fast as you can throw
them in front of a sightfished tailer
or marauding school of giant reds. I've literally seen redfish hit
bare gold hooks when they are not in a choosey mood. |
